The sale of Kopi Luwak the rarest coffee in the world was introduced to our menu in November 2006. The Luwak Coffee beans have been eaten by and then passed through the digestive tract of the Asian Palm Civet – a cat like animal that lives in the jungles of Indonesia. While in the stomach of the Luwak, digestive juices leech out many of the proteins responsible for the bitterness in the coffee resulting in a smoother, sweeter cup of coffee.

A “Certificate of Experience” is given to each person who buys a Kopi Luwak coffee. A comments book is also kept for the faint hearted to peruse who want to know about it but won’t try it themselves.

This coffee sells at US$1200 per kilo. A media release and subsequent media frenzy has brought approximately $5million of publicity to not only Hervey’s Range Heritage Tea Rooms but the Townsville region as well. As a a result of thisworld wide publicity, the writers for the  movie "The Bucket List" wrote Kopi Luwak into their script. Approximately 4-5 people per week pay $50 to experience this exquisite coffee.

Gift boxes are also available for sale in ¼ pound and ½ pound boxes.
