About Heritage Tea Rooms
Monday, 10 September 2007

Cool Climate

We are situated 1000 feet above sea level which allows people to escape the coast to a climate 5º cooler in summer. Unlike other mountain destinations in the region, we are only 40minutes from Townsville's CBD and 20 minutes from Thuringowa Central on a beautiful, well maintained bitumen road.

Gifts and souvenirs

Initially gifts were introduced into the Tea Rooms with a limited range of local crafts and produce.  Due to popular demand and the need to give our customers "something else to do" we created a separate shop, situated opposite the Tea Rooms.   Eftpos is available for your convenience.

Cellar Door

Situated directly behind the Tea Rooms is a Cellar Door.  Come and experience North Queenslands No 1 award winning winemaker's Pacific Blue wines.  You are able to taste grape wines of Queensland which are carefully designed red and white table wines using Tropical North Queensland grapes to create a variety of table wines.   Tropical fruit wines are sourced from local fruits such as Mango, Lychee, Lime and Passionfruit, grown in Tropical North Queensland.  Exotic Fortifieds are the signature creations made from red chilli pepper, lime, garlic and black sapote which gives each wine it's own distinctive character.   Come in for a wine tasting - only $5 for any 3 of your choice.  Take home a bottle or 12 to share with your friends....  Open weekends and public holidays from 10am to 4pm.

Open House for Everyone

From babies to great grandparents - everyone is welcome and catered for.  Cuddles for both young and old are free if needed.  Toys are provided so parents can sit back and relax.  The gardens are a welcoming playground for children allowing them space to run and play without disrupting other customers.

Cozy Rooms

Dining in the cozy rooms inside the building offers warmth away from the winter cold and displays an array of artifacts and memorabilia from a time gone by.  This is always a popular trip down memory lane and a chance for our older generation to explain to the grandkids just what it was all used for.

Walking Tracks

Easter weekend 2006 we decided to open up more of our property to the public and put in a 1.4km walking track enabling people of all ages to enjoy the peace and quiet,  take a stroll to Mason's Lookout and see the view above the first railway tunnel.  The first weekend approximately 300 made this walk and hundreds have followed.   Offering something so simple that costs nothing was something more for our customers to enjoy.
